Terry Moss started racing modified series cars behind the wheel of a Ford Capri 1600 in 1980, winning the East Cape & Border Championship a year later. That’s not where his interest in motorsport started though, that happened much earlier. In 1961 a four year old Terry Moss watched motorsport legends Stirling Moss, Jim Clarke and Jack Brabham in action at the Grand Prix circuit in East London . That triggered a reaction that is still felt today. This trilingual -Terry speaks Xhosa - racer has won innumerable titles and is one of the most successful motorsport champions in South Africa . Terry is probably best known by race fans as a Bankfin Touring Car champion. Terry was also the Wesbank Modified Saloon champion for three years running, from 1991 to 1993. There is far more to the man than just a racing driver. Terry’s commitment to motorsport has seen the development of the Terry Moss Racing Trust which seeks to develop promising racing drivers. Since leaving the circuit as a full-time racing driver Terry has turned his attention to the organisational side of the world of motorsport and aims to make the sport as accessible and popular in South Africa as the other mainstream sports like rugby, cricket and soccer. Karting, regional racing and the Engen Volkswagen Cup all fall within the scope of the Terry’s development programme in the Eastern Cape . Terry is also responsible for managing the Aldo Scribante racing circuit in Port Elizabeth . He is constantly in search of new drivers that show potential in order to develop them into future motorsport champions. The drivers are first tested in karts and then tutored in the arts of driving in the kart racing series. They then graduate to the saloon car field and campaign in regional championships. Drivers who display true talent and potential have the opportunity to compete in national championship series – specifically the Engen Volkswagen Cup. A devoted family man,
Terry's entire family is involved in motor sport in some manner.
